My Coaching Story

My career journey started when I qualified as a speech and language therapist. I specialised in working with adults who had experienced loss of language following brain injury. I trained in the use hypnotherapy as an approach to help people whose speech and communication was affected by stress and anxiety. This was followed by an MSc in neurolinguistics which I received from the psychology department at Keele University.

I continued working in the NHS as an operational team leader and then moved into corporate roles. This gave me the opportunity to work with staff, teams and organisations supporting change, redesign and development. I have particularly enjoyed working closely with so many inspirational and dedicated people, all committed to wanting to change how we work for the better. This has included designing and delivering leadership development programmes and supporting leaders to both develop their resilience and to work in a compassionate and collaborative way.

I qualified as a coach and mentor in 2015 and have had the pleasure of working with numerous clients from health and social care. Through my role as a school governor I work with head teachers, teaching staff and as mentor for the Prince’s Trust I support young people making career decisions and adapting to the rigours of working life.

My interest in language led me to qualify as an NLP practitioner in 2016 and I have since completed further coaching and mentoring qualifications so I now provide  Executive Coaching and Mentoring. I am an MBTI practitioner which enables me to provide detailed feedback about personality types and insight about our feelings and behaviour. As an Accredited Senior Practitioner with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, I provide supervision and mentoring to other coaches which keeps me closely networked with other highly skilled coaching colleagues.

I love helping and supporting people through their personal life journeys and work a lot with people who are experiencing the challenges of adapting to changing circumstances. This includes balancing work and home life, changing relationships, loss, career decisions and many other life experiences.

Over the last year, due to the pandemic, I have been providing pro bono services to NHS staff  working on the front line and in support roles. It has also been a huge privilege to offer regular emotional wellbeing and resilience  workshops via a Social Wellbeing Facebook Group.

In addition to working with individuals , I coach and help to develop  Teams and Organisations to strengthen relationships,  build resilience and to be more effective. I am passionate about organisational values and behaviours that are simple, appropriate, clearly defined and embedded to assist organisations to be the best they can be.
